CEREMONIAL OPENING OF NEW “FACILITY AND ADMINISTRATIONBUILDING” OF THE CATC

The new Facility and Administration Building of the CATC was ceremoniously opened by the Minister of Aviation Hon. Reginald Cooray M.P. on 30th April 2015. The simple occasion held at the CATC campus at Kandawala Road, Ratmalana was graced by Deputy Minister of Aviation Hon. Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana M.P., Secretary to the Ministry Mr. D. Swarnapala, Chairman Civil Aviation Authority Mr. Shibly Aziz, the Director General of Civil Aviation Mr. H. M. C. Nimalsiri and many other distinguished guests at the invitation of Mr. Ananda Wimalasena Chairman of AASL, Mr. Sanjeewa Wijeratne Vice Chairman, the Directors and the Senior Management of AASL.

Speaking at the occasion, the Minister of Aviation stated that Sri Lanka has tremendous potential to provide knowledge to the world. He expressed the hope that the CATC would develop to become a degree awarding institution.

CATC, The training arm of our company, is now gradually emerging as a regional training provider and the new building would provide the much needed commercial interface demanded by a modern day business establishment. The new auditorium with state of the art audio-visual facilities and the new information resource centre housed in the new building would enhance the training capabilities and capacity of the CATC while sharpening its competitive edge.

The CATC is a full member of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUSprogramme, and is the only aviation training institution with this recognition in the island. It is also among 29 such members worldwide. The company plans to position theCATCas a Regional Training Centre of Excellence.
