Sri Lankan and Indian Armed Forces Exchange Goodwill Visits

The second edition of the special pilgrimage to Bodh Gaya organized by the High Commission of India began their tour on 15th June 2019. The pilgrimage consists of 160 personnel of Sri Lanka armed forces and their families.

The special pilgrimage was started last year based on discussions between the two countries towards increasing interaction and bonhomie between armed forces personnel of the two countries.
Meanwhile, a reciprocal visit by 160 Indian armed forces personnel and their families to Sri Lanka also takes place. The Indian contingent arrived on a special request of the Sri Lanka Army Commander visit important places in Sri Lanka. This is the first time such a large delegation of Indian armed forces with their families arrived in Sri Lanka for a visit. An Indian Air Force C-17 Globemaster aircraft was specially deployed to transport the Sri Lankan and Indian contingents.
