A new batch of ATCs start their training

A batch of eight Air Traffic Controllers commenced their initial training on Aerodrome Control with a simple ceremony held at the auditorium of the Civil Aviation Training Centre on 10th August 2015. The training programme is conducted after a 3 years gap from its previous conduction on 2012.


The ATC training wing is one of the oldest training wings of the CATC and Senior Air Traffic Controller Mr. Sunil Croos who is presently serving as the Chief Instructor, is having around 35 years of experience in the field. Addressing the gathering the Chief Instructor mentioned that this batch was recruited at a time the ANS division is having a critical human resources need.


The Head of Civil Aviation Training, Eng. Athula Seneviratne pointed out that AASL is the proud producer of Air traffic control practitioners for the civil airports in Sri Lanka by recruiting and providing necessary training for them. He further explained that the batch starting the training was selected through a very stringent and strenuous selection criteria which comprised many tests spanning over a period of nearly one year.


Ms. Krisanthi Tisera, Head of Air Navigational Services addressing the gathering mentioned that many experienced personnel from operations would share their knowledge with the trainees and urged the participants to engage in their studies diligently
