Breaking boundaries with the language of music

August 24, 2016

Young hearts were interconnected with the language of music as 33 young musicians from Mullaitivu and Kurunegala performed at the Arrival lobby of BIA 24th August 2016. The Musical program added color to the travel experience at BIA where the performances thrilled and entertained arriving passengers and their visitors. The orchestra performed as a part of their roadshow themed, “The Music Project 2016”.

This unique orchestral performance at the airport was facilitated by the AASL with the assistance of SriLankan Cares, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of SriLankan Airlines.

The musical project aims to foster a sense of musical achievement on an individual and a personal level by providing a therapeutic and holistic opportunity to excel and fulfil their own potential within a thriving musical community to those whose lives might have otherwise been blighted by poverty. The two orchestral communities from the north and south, work together to perform and participate in workshops that would involve instrumentalists and specialists. This unique project would help the children of two diverse communities to establish links through music, thereby achieving social cohesion, unity, and harmony.
