Welcoming of Trainee Air Traffic Controllers

Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited (AASL) is the sole Air Navigation Service provider in Sri Lanka. Provision of Air Traffic Control service in Colombo flight information region is identified as a major functionality of the company. Strengthening of the human capital in air traffic management environment of the ANS division had been a dire need during the past few years. In that context, the top management of the AASL decided to recruit a batch of Trainee Air Traffic Controllers to the company. 

Under this recruitment drive, 26 successful candidates were selected for the post of "Trainee Air Traffic Controller" on the 11th of August 2020 and absorbed into the AASL family. These prospective trainees will be the first batch of trainee air traffic controllers who will be undergoing training at the new state of the art aerodrome control simulator recently installed at the Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC), Ratmalana. 

The welcoming ceremony was held at Board Room, AASL with the participation of Major General (Rtd.) G. A. Chandrasiri, Chairman Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited (AASL), Mr. N. C. Abeywardena (Head of Air Navigation Services), Mr. Athula Seneviratne (Head of Civil Aviation Training), and Mrs. M. C. G. Mahipala (Head of Human Resources).
