Red Wings Airlines, ranked among Russia’s top ten carriers and renowned for its scheduled and charter passenger services, has officially commenced its winter flight operations to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA), Sri Lanka. The seasonal service began on 28th October 2025 and will feature six weekly flights, with an additional flight every ten days, continuing through April 2026.

The airline will deploy its Boeing 777-200 aircraft, offering a seating capacity of 412. The inaugural winter flight touched down at MRIA at 12:10 hrs, carrying 402 international tourists. The arrival was marked by a ceremonial water cannon salute organized by Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL), celebrating the commencement of this strategic route.

Key industry stakeholders, including Aitken Spence Travel, are actively collaborating with Red Wings to manage passenger services and promote Sri Lanka as a premier tourist destination. Tropical Aviation Services serves as the General Sales Agent (GSA) for Red Wings Airlines at MRIA, facilitating operational and commercial support.
With approximately 130 flights planned for the winter season, this initiative is expected to significantly boost inbound tourism and reinforce Sri Lanka’s position as a sought-after travel destination for Russian and Eastern European markets.
