84th Anniversary Event at Colombo International Airport- Ratmalana

The Colombo International Airport- Ratmalana (CIAR), the first international airport in Sri Lanka, established in 1938 and managed and operated by Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL), celebrated its 84th anniversary today.

An event to celebrate the anniversary was organized with a religious event with clergy representing all religions in the morning, followed by a cake cutting. CIAR has made significant contributions to the civil aviation industry, particularly as a hub for domestic aviation and civil aviation training. In recognition of the value it creates for the industry, a CSR program, ‘Aviation Education and Airport Familiarization’, was organized at CIAR on 28th February 2022 with the objective of creating awareness among the future generation of aviators of the future development opportunities in the aviation industry in Sri Lanka.

Major General (Rtd.) G A Chandrasiri, Chairman AASL, participated in the program as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by Ms. Deirdre De Livera, Director-Domestic and Regional Airports, Mr. Aruna Rajapaksha, Chief Airport Manager - CIAR, senior officials of domestic airlines as well as officers of AASL and other partner organizations.
