Turkish Airlines Commenced Direct Flights to Sri Lanka After 10 Years of Operations

After 10 years of operations in Sri Lanka, with a leg stopping over in Male, the airline commenced direct flights from Istanbul, Turkey, to Colombo, on 30th October 2023 with 4 weekly flights.
The commencement of direct flights will enable Sri Lanka to connect with Europe and the Americas with shorter flight times, as well as shorter connection times in monumental Istanbul Airport.
The inaugural direct flight landed at BIA at 5.41 a.m. TK 730 with 261 passengers. To celebrate this special occasion, the first direct flight was welcomed with a water salute organized by Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited, and the arriving passengers were treated Sri Lanka Tea Board-sponsored Ceylon Tea gift packs, synonymous with the world’s finest tea
