Taking Commercial Domestic Aviation to New Heights.

With the objective of giving new heights to the domestic aviation industry in Sri Lanka, a forum was held with all the domestic operators of Sri Lanka on 15th July 2021 at the Arrival Silk Route Lounge, BIA. This is the first-ever forum organized to develop the country's domestic aviation industry.

The main objective of the meeting was to review the current situation of the industry and develop a unique business strategy to make domestic air travel affordable and available to all.

The development priorities in the domestic aviation industry and strategic policy decisions were arrived at addressing the concerns of the domestic operators. Addressing the gathering, the officials emphasized the importance of developing the domestic aviation industry of the country. Ms. Deirdre De Livera, Director Domestic and Regional Operations (CIAR, JIA, BTIA) elaborated on the strategic direction of the domestic aviation industry under key strategic priorities.

D V Chanaka, State Minister of Civil Aviation & Export Zone Development, Mr. S Hettiarachchi, the Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Madawa Dewasurendra, State Secretary Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Upul Dharmadasa, Chairman Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka, Major General (Rtd) G. A. Chandrasiri, Chairman AASL, Capt. Themiya Abewickrama, Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka, Ms. Deirdre De Livera, Director AASL- Domestic and Regional Operations (CIAR, JIA, BTIA) the members of the Board of Directors of AASL, other senior officials of Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka and Domestic Airline Companies attended the event.
