This division is the major player in handling of airport emergencies that we learnt in lesson 2.  Saving lives during airport emergencies and particularly emergencies due to planes engulfed in fire is the primary responsibility of this division. 

The division operates fire stations at every airport and has a fleet of fire vehicles and fire staff working on shifts at its command.

Because actual airport emergencies are rare the company’s airport fire fighters undergo regular fire exercises on fire mock-ups (dummy plane specially constructed for fire exercises). This division also handles the maintenance of its fire vehicles which need to be in top operational condition at all times. 

The division has a long chain of command to maintain its services.  In view of their expertise, this division is also entrusted with fire prevention at all locations of the company which includes the installation of smoke detectors, hand held  fire extinguishers  and fire alarms, including  their regular inspections.
