Wireless Fidelity, more commonly known as Wi-Fi, is available in more than one million square feet of space at Bandaranaike International Airport.

 

 

Wi-Fi uses short-range radio waves to connect laptop computers, personal digital assistants and other wireless devices to the Internet.

 

 

With the network that enables users to log on anywhere, anytime at the Airport, where is facilitating a free of charge for users by establishing a truly neutral host system. Instead of Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISP) owning or managing the Wi-Fi system, the Airport is its proprietor. When a user powers a laptop, if they have a wireless card (internal or external) the Airport’s SSID - PIERInternet will allow user access to all information on the Bandaranaike Airport Web site and the Web with wireless Internet access.

Steps for Wireless Internet Access (Wi-Fi) Using your own Laptop

 

 

1. Open Network Connections window

    (Start menu > Control panel > Network Connections)

 

2. Select Wireless Network connection

 

 

 
   
 
   
   
  3. Set TCP/IP Properties of this connection to obtain IP address automatically and to obtain DNS server address automatically
   
 
   
 
   
   
  4. Click View available Wireless networks
   
 
   
     
 
   
  5. Refresh the network list by clicking
 
     
   
 
   
   
  6. Double Click on the PIERInternet to connect the LAN
   
 
   
     
 
   
  7. You can check your connection for connectivity Double click Internet
