Our Mission

Is to assure the effective protection and safeguarding of passengers, crew, ground personnel, the traveling general public, aircraft, airports and air navigational facilities against acts of unlawful interference.

Profile

Security division has a workforce of 826 employees. This comprises of Head of Security Services, Deputy Head of Security Services, Security Marshals, Deputy Security Marshals, Security Officers, Patrol Leaders, Patrolmen, Sentrymen, Female Sentries, Secretaries, Management Assistants, Podu Karya Sevakayas, Office Service Assistants and Watchers.

All security staff have received specialized training in their respective areas according to the ICAO standard and some senior security staff have been given foreign training in line with ICAO Aviation Security.

The Security Division is equipped with the state of the art equipment to achieve international standards in the Aviation Security including baggage x-ray system, walk through metal detectors, hand held metal detectors and CCTV systems.

Utmost care has been taken to ensure the security of the Bandaranaike International Airport and Colombo Airport Ratmalana, the airlines, passengers, visitors and staff through a joint operation between the Sri Lanka Air Force and AASL Aviation Security personnel specially trained for the purpose.

The perimeter security of BIA is handled by Sri Lanka Air Force while Security at terminal building, Cargo Village, Airside, more specifically screening of passengers and their baggage and access control as per the Annex 17 (Standard Recommended Practice) to the convention on International Civil Aviation and Security Manual Doc 8973 (Safeguarding International Civil Aviation Against Acts of Unlawful Interference) is ensured by AASL Security personnel.
