Passport - Passport Required

Passport Exemptions:

1. Holders of a ‘laissez-passer’ issued by the United Nations, travelling On duty.
2. Holders of documents issued to stateless persons and refugees, provided holding a Re-entry Permit from the country in which they reside.
3. Holders of a Hong Kong (SAR China) Document of identity.

Crew Members	Same regulations as for passengers apply
Military	Same regulations as for passengers apply
Minors	All Sri Lankan children under 16 years of age may be Included in the parent’s passport. A photograph of the Child must be attached to the passport

Visa - Visa required

Visa Exemptions:

1. Nationals of Sri Lanka
2. Holders of a ‘Laissez-Passer’ issued by the United Nations, traveling on duty.
3. Holders of a Re-entry/Residence Permit issued by Sri Lanka to alien residents.

TMOV(Transit without Visa). Those continuing their journey to a Third country within 8 hours by the same or connecting aircraft, Provided
-holding confirmed onward tickets; and
-other documents for their next destination ; and
-not leaving the airport and remaining in the transit area.
It is advisable to obtain a transit visa in advance.

Merchant Seaman

1.	Visa is not required for Merchant Seaman being national of Sri Lanka.

2.	Merchant Seaman arriving by air in order to board a ship, or if arriving by ship in order to board an aircraft must travel on duty and hold a Seaman Book together with a passport and hold a Letter of Guarantee from the shipping company.

3.	Visa is not required for Merchant Seaman (when arriving by air in order to board a ship, or when arriving by ship in order to board an aircraft) if the procedure is completely arranged by the shipping company.

Visa Issuance

2.3	Holders of Chinese Taipei documents
2.4	Nationals of China(People’s Rep)including Hong Kong (SAR China)passport holders
2.5	Nationals of Vietnam holding diplomatic and official passports.

Additional Information:

1.	Visa is required prior to arrival if the passenger has the intention to enter Sri Lanka in order to undertake remunerative activities.

2.	Visitors may be required to satisfy Immigration Authorities by proving that they have sufficient funds to cover their stay in Sri Lanka, being a minimum of US $ 15-per person, per day

3.	In connection with the outbreak of influenza A(H1N1), all passengers Arriving from influenza affected countries, will be asked to report to the Relevant desk to record personal details and verify with the authorities. That they are not suffering from any symptoms of influenza A9H1N1).

Customs Import

1.

Free import only by persons over 18 years of age:

	2 bottles of wine and ½ litre of spirits 2 ounces of perfume and ¼ litre of eau de toilette travel souvenirs not intended for commercial use, up to the value of USD 250

2.

In case of members of a family traveling together, free import is in general Only allowed for 2 members. Note: Customs duty and other levies are applicable on all cigarette and tobacco products. Passengers are required to declare upon arrival valuable personal affects to ensure free export.

Baggage Concessions

ARRIVAL

	Declare all your currency, valuable equipment, jewellery and gems.
	If you have nothig to declare you can go through the GREEN CHANNEL.
	Your Baggage should NOT contain goods for others, goods in COMMERCIAL quantities and PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED GOODS. Some of them are : Dangerous Drugs, Weapons & Explosive Devices, and Gold.
	You are required to take back all your personal effects at your departure.
	You are entitled to :
	i. 1-1/2 litres of spirits, 2 bottles of wine. ii. A small quantity of perfume and travel souvenirs not exceeding US $ 250/- in value.
	Professional Teams -
	Filming and Photographic equipment will be allowed on valid Carnet or a Bank Guarantee or on a refundable deposit of the duty payable on the items.

DEPARTURE

	Permitted
	You are entitled to take out what you have declared and brought tnto the Country and whatever you have purchased locally lilke gems, jewellery and Sri Lankan products out of the funds brought in and declared to CUSTOMS on your arrival.
	10 kilos of SRI LANKA TEA duty free.
	Foreign Currency declared and brought into the country. Unused Sri Lanka currency should be reconverted to Foreign Currency at departure.

	Not Permitted
	All currencies in excess of your declared amounts on arrival.
	i. Any Gems and Jewellery or valuable equipment not declared on arrival or NOT PURCHASED in Sri Lanka out of Funds declared and brought into the Country.
	ii. Gold (Crude, Bullion or Coins)
	Sri Lanka Currency in excess of Rs. 250/-
	Firearms, explosives and dangerous weapons.
	Antiques, statues, treasures, old books, etc.

Currency Import:

Local currency (Sri Lankan Rupee-LKR) up to LKR 5,000- and foreign Currencies up to USD 15,000-exceeding amounts must be fully declared to customs, except for Indian and Pakistan currencies which are prohibited

Currency Export:

Local currency (Sri Lankan Rupee-LKR)up to LKR 5,000-, and foreign Currencies up to the amounts imported and/or declared, except for Indian And Pakistan currencies which are prohibited.
