Hon. Minister of Civil Aviation Piyankara Jayaratne paid a visit to Rathmalana Airport on 22nd September 2011 to see the progress of the city airport concept.

Arrangements have been made to promote the Ratmalana Airport as a City airport as there is a growth of private aircraft arrivals since of late.

Chairman of Airport & Aviation Services (SL) Limited Mr.Prasanna Wickramsuriya, Board of directors, the Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation Mr.Ranjith Silva and other officials also were present.
