The brain Storming session for our Company's strategic Planning for the time horizon of 2011-2015 was held up in Cinnamon Grand, Colombo on 16-17 of January, 2011. It marked a flagship event in AASL's Corporate Calendar and also was first ever of its kind. In a landmark change in our approach, we invited BIA's key external stakeholders also to join us in identifying what strategic stirrings and turnarounds are vital when the Organization is driven to become an aviation hub in the region as stipulated in Mahinada Chinthana - Vision for the future. In our Chairman's speech it was emphasized that, this vision should be achieved during the current planning horizon.
Almost all key external stakeholders represented at this event and they expressed extremely good sentiments about this kick off session and viewed this as a healthy phenomenon to the aviation industry in Sri Lanka. Our guest speakers were, Mr H. M. C. Nimalsiri - Director General of Civil Aviation authority & CEO, Dr Nalaka Godahewa - Chairman Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau, Mr Manoj Vaz Gunawardana - CEO, Sri Lankan Airlines, Mr M. N. Ranasinghe- Controller, Dept.of immigration & Emigration, Mr Ajantha Dias - Additional Director General of Sri Lanka Customs, Mr G. S Withanage- Additional Secretary-Ministry of Civil Aviation, Mr Rohan Masakorala -Consultant - SEMA, Mr K. D Ranasinghe - Chief Economist - Director of Economics Research, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Mr Shannon Ambroze - Secretary, Airlines Operators Committee.
Mrs. Rimzie Ismail, Head of Customer Affairs & Service Brand Delivery, Dubai Airports played the Moderator's role enlightening the event. Mr. S Rahubadda, Consultant, Managing for Development Results a master in the field was the External Resource Person. The dedicated contribution of these two professionals immensely helped to make the workshop a success.
